Install Lumen on every computer you work from.
Download the native app for macOS, Windows, or Linux. It captures activity locally, syncs your devices, and keeps reports complete.
Linux
64-bit x86. AppImage runs on most distributions; X11, GNOME, and KDE desktops are supported.
Install once, sync every workday.
1. Install
Download the app for your platform and open the installer.
2. Sign in
Use your Lumen account, or create one in about a minute.
3. Tracking starts
After you sign in, Lumen captures activity in the background and syncs your first timeline.
What the desktop app does
The desktop app is the part of Lumen that observes work as it happens. It runs quietly in the background, stores activity locally first, and syncs the timeline to your account so reports stay complete across every computer you use.
Tracks the workday automatically
Lumen records the active application, window title, and browser site while you work, then groups that activity into a timeline you can review instead of reconstructing from memory.
Syncs every desktop into one timeline
Install Lumen on each machine you use. Your laptop, desktop, and studio machine all contribute to one chronological record without double-counting overlapping activity.
Turns activity into client reports
Rules classify recurring apps, domains, and projects automatically. Workspace owners review aggregate hours by client and category, then export CSV reports for billing.
Good to know
- Updates install themselves
- Lumen checks for updates in the background and applies them on restart, so every machine stays current without manual downloads. Linux .deb installs are the exception — update those from this page.
- Working offline is fine
- Activity is recorded locally first. If a laptop spends the day without a connection, the timeline syncs the next time it is online and nothing is lost.
- Pause whenever you need to
- Tracking pauses from the menu bar or system tray in one click, and nothing is recorded until you resume.
- Uninstalling is ordinary
- Remove the app the way you remove any other application. Synced data stays in your account; local data leaves with the app.
